Program Outline: We will discuss signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of common and severe bleeding disorders that dentists may encounter in their practice. I will also review dental procedures that require hemostatic treatment in this population and the importance of collaboration across specialties Learning Objectives: - Review basic pathophysiology of bleeding disorders
- Identify signs and symptoms, complications, and treatment of: Von Willebrand disease, Hemophilia, and Platelet disorders
- Understand precautions related to dental procedures in individuals with bleeding disorders
Presenter Biography: Cristina Tarango, M.D. is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an Attending Hematologist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). Dr. Tarango earned her medical degree from Stanford University and completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and her pediatric hematology oncology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She is the Director of CCHMC’s Hemophilia Treatment Center and has a special interest in pediatric hemostasis and thrombosis. HOW DO I ATTEND THIS LIVE WEBINAR?
