2026 N. Sue Seale Pediatric Dentistry Research Award Foundation of the College of Diplomates of the ABPD

Purpose: The award honors Dr. Sue Seale whose research advanced the discipline of pediatric dentistry through the pursuit of evidence-based knowledge.  Dr. Seale made an enduring difference in the professional paths of pediatric dentistry graduate students by supporting their research. Her primary research area was tooth pulp therapy.  Numerous published articles and book chapters is a testament of her work.

Award: The FCOD is proud that a $10,000 research award is available each year to support:
1. Full time faculty in the first 10 years of their career.
2. Whose research helps to advance the practice of Pediatric Dentistry.

Qualified Applicants: The Dr. N Sue Seale Research Award is available for application who are full-time faculty and fulfill the following criteria:
1. Employed in a department of pediatric dentistry (undergraduate or graduate programs) in a university or hospital setting.
2. Employed for 10 years or less of their academic career (Initial hire date = start of academic career.)
3. Holds Diplomate status and has participated in the ABPD certification process.
4. Conducting research designed to further the science and knowledge of pediatric dentistry in any of its various aspects: clinical, behavioral, basic science.
5. Research may have begun during residence and is in the final phase.

Non-Qualified Applicants:
1. A previous Seale Awardee whose project and stewardship have not been fully completed.
2. A previous Seale Awardee may reapply based on new research five (5) years after the first awarded project and stewardship are complete.

Budget for the research project

Deadline:
  A complete application must be received on or before February 15, 2026*.  Please mail, fax or email materials all at one time.  
Incomplete materials will not be considered.
