Program Outline:

This lecture will provide an overview of care for children born with cleft conditions from the perspective of a pediatric dentist. Cleft care is complex. Because of this, is imperative to provide treatment in the context of an interdisciplinary team that has robust communication and collaboration.

Presenter Biography:

Liz is honored to work at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic (LCPC) in Lancaster, PA where she serves in two different roles. Founded, in 1938, LCPC is the oldest clinic in the United States dedicated to providing team-based cleft and craniofacial care for infants, children and adults. Liz acts as the clinic’s executive director and pediatric dentist. She provides all aspects of pediatric dental care, including cleft and craniofacial care, special needs and hospital dentistry. As executive director, Liz works with the clinic’s board of directors to oversee financial management, government affairs, development, marketing and communications. She holds hospital privileges at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and Penn Medicine - Lancaster General Hospital. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Penn State College of Medicine.  

She holds a BA in Biology and Public Policy from Duke University, a DMD from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, and an MPH from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management. She completed her residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in Pediatric Dentistry in 2009. Liz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She serves on several boards including the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association and the Manheim Township Education Foundation in her local school district. Liz is a reviewer for the Cleft Palate Craniofacial Journal. Outside of the office, Liz enjoys photography and travel. She is married with two sons and a dog. She enjoys working with patients throughout their childhood as they mature into successful adults.
